Thank you for your support
Ansty Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will support our fight against climate change and help manage the imbalances in supply and demand of electricity through the national grid. BESS facilities play an important role in ensuring a stable and resilient electricity network and help avoid blackouts.
The project would provide capacity to store around 200MW of energy, reducing annual CO2 emissions by over 62,000 metric tonnes. This is the equivalent to supplying over 240,000 homes with energy for 2 hours.
Ansty BESS would make a positive contribution towards Rugby’s target of achieving net-zero by 2030.
Further benefits:
The land is currently unused scrubland. The project will provide a scheme of landscape and ecological improvements to ensure a significant biodiversity net gain of over 85% is achieved.
We believe that it’s right that the community closest to the site is able to benefit from it. A community benefit fund will be set up to help fund local projects
Should our application be successful, Rugby Borough Council will earn significant revenue from business rates generated throughout the project lifecycle. This will directly help fund local services.
